		<description>It is good advice to take vitamins when on a calorie restricted diet -- particularly if you&#039;re on one of those ones not recommended by healthcare officials that cut out major food groups -- to make sure you aren&#039;t missing essential nutrients.  It is wishful thinking but inaccurate that obesity is the result of vitamin deficiency and that taking vitamins would cause weight loss.  It&#039;s simple math - consume more calories than you burn and the body stores them; do the opposite and you lose weight.  We all wish that was not the case and the food supplement industry makes a fortune trying to tell people they can eat what they want and still lose weight.

Cravings have nothing to do with a nutrient deficiency except in extremely rare cases where you hear about pregnant women are eating clay that contains a particular mineral.  For the vast majority of us, cravings are almost always for fat, sugar and/or salt (put all 3 together and YUM!) -- otherwise we&#039;d crave broccoli and carrots, not french fries.</description>
